Turbug growls a little, quietly, as she goes on. The twins just continue to shrink, withdrawing their neck into the cavity in their carapace, the little heads knocking into one another softly. Turbug shifts his attention from them slowly back to the girl. “…no,” he continues stiffly. “I don’t want them hunting. I don’t want them killing anything. They don’t need to.”
His attention snaps back to the twins and he snaps, “Stay with your sister!”
The twins immediately scramble away from Vani and over to Princess, scurrying around on the opposite side of the gumball where their sister resides (out of Turbug’s line of sight) where they tuck themselves in nervously. Turbug scratches at his brows, frustrated. “I need something to eat,” he mutters dismissively. “Let’s get this over with.”
"But if they—…" The girl lifts a finger to continue speaking, then shifts her gaze over towards the young cybrid. "…if they—…" She lets her hand fall to her side and shakes her head, shrugging. "Alright, fine. I ain’t gonna force ya t’ do anything."
Shifting her attention back towards Turbug, Vani wanders past him towards the taffy stream. “Also, there’s a good chance I’ll probably be bad at hunting this time around. Hopefully you’ve learned a thing or two about the last time we went out?” She looks over her shoulder, giving the bug a slight smirk. “No more gettin’ kicked in the face by… well, there’s no animal crackers around here so you don’t have to worry about that.”

"Princess is…Princess," Turbug murmurs, glancing after his daughter. (Wow, wasn’t that a frightening thought? His daughter. His child. The code of his code. Move on, MOVE ON.) He takes a deep breath, trying to settle the sudden pounding in his chest as he turns now to look toward Vani, managing a wry sneer at her.
KitKat slides off after Vani, shaking themselves off and getting a footing. Both faces look up at the girl with wide eyes at her suggestion, the little heads tipping to the left in unison. “We can hunt?” one asks.
"What’s hunting?" the other chimes.
“They’re not hunting!" Turbug snaps, his cerci slapping the ground with a loud crack. The twins jump and duck their heads down submissively, whining. Turbug’s eyes flick from the twins to Vani, the glimmer of panic still in his eyes. “They’ll sit with Princess,” he says stiffly. “And wait.”
Vani looks down at the cydra, then back up at Turbug. “You don’t want them hunting? There’s nothing big around here from what I can remember.” She looks around at the surrounding area, alert for anything large that might be wandering around.
Crossing her arms, the glitch rubs the bridge of her nose and shakes her head, sighing loudly. “They’re never gonna get experience of ya just let them sit on the sidelines, Buggy. Just look at their little faces, how can you say no to them?” She looks over at the twins again, trying to come up with some sort of plan. “Uhm, what about… if anything happens t’ them, you could blame me?”
That probably wasn’t reassuring.
"You’re Turbo’s little Vanellope friend…I hope he’s being nice to you! And I hope your eye gets better soon!"
aaaa, i look so cute~!
thank ya fer the kind words and of course he’s bein’ nice ta me~!
"None of them can fly, thank mod," Turbug mutters, twisting his neck a little to glance back. KitKat dips both heads and nuzzles up into Vani’s arm lightly as they’re pet, purring a little with grins. The larger cybrid regards this quietly before turning forward again, humming softly.
"If they’ve got it in their mind to get themselves all sticky and gross, I’ll be damned if I’m going to intervene," he mutters. Princess, however, seems hardly interested in the stream and instead finds herself a warm patch of sunlight atop a white jawbreaker, where she hops up and lays down, four legs tucked around her and two draped down in front.
Turbug looks back at his passengers once again, scowling. “Alright, everybody off!”
“Dad, are you going to eat more critters?” the twins call together.
"Only if you get off my back! All of you!" He shoots his female rider a glare as well.
"Princess seems rather independent. Does she like to wander about alone?" Vani asks, sliding down off the cybrids back. "Also, the ride was a little bumpy. Juuuust a little.” She shoots a small smirk at the cybrid before turning her back on him.
Virus wanders silently up next to the girl, rolling his eyes. “Since I’m not one to hunt, I’m just going to remain around here. Technically, I don’t even need to eat." He shoots a glare at Vani before strolling off into another clearing and settling down at the base of a tree, pulling his hood over his head and muttering quietly to himself.
Looking back over at the other two (or three?), the girl focuses on Kitkat, grinning. “Are you gonna hunt with us? Maybe you could help me get somethin’ to eat.”
"it’s been over a week since that whole incident and i think my recovery is coming along nicely~!"
“the eye’s still broken and i can’t see diddly squat out of it most of the time but uh… i’m fine? i-it’ll fix itself once i f-f-fix this! aheh…hopefully.”
I never got a chance to try the volcanoes.
And that’s perfectly fine with me, thank you very much.
Turbug glances back with a half-lidded scowl at the mention of Diet Cola Mountain. “Oh gee, I had completely forgotten about the boiling diet cola,” he mutters with heavy sarcasm before twisting his head forward again.
He glances down at Princess and her scamper around excitedly. “…She seems to be enjoying herself. I’ve hardly let them outside the castle since they hatched. In my own game, I mean. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take them out and let them burn off some energy…Of course, to burn off any energy, they’d have to actually get down and WALK.”
KitKat ducks down lower behind Vani, crouched ‘hugging’ their dad’s back with their legs. They grin mischievously, giggling a little.
Turbug snorts as Princess pauses ahead of him. “Are we there yet? is this it?”
"Haha, sorry about that!" Vani snickers and reaches forward to pat the back of Turbug’s collar. "When yer livin’ there fer 15 years, it becomes like a second safe haven for you, despite the dangers that lie within it. Even after the game reset, I still hid in there for… obvious reasons." She jerks her head back towards the malware who’s currently following far behind them, glancing at the scenery.
The girl watches as Princess skitters about. “I can see how being cooped up in a castle with several other siblings can quickly become cramped. I’m guessin’ none of them are able to fly yet?” She twists her body around to look over at KitKat and slowly reaches an arm over their heads to rest on their back. “Aw dad, don’t be a meaniebug to your kids.”
Her attention shifts to the surrounding area. There’s a few trees scattered about here and there, as well as small shrubs. A green taffy stream flows throughout the woods and numerous clearings are present. “Yeah, this is the place. That stream’s not too deep, but don’t let the kids roll around in it because it’s a real pain t’ get off.”
Turbug scoffs still. Sure, all his alternates were dangerous when they got their hands on a bit of code…but out here, like this, he sincerely doubted he had anything much to worry about from the other Turbo. For once he got to be the bigger one.
"Jawbreakers," he repeats, swatting his cerci aimlessly, although he does come quite close to striking his alternate. "Ha, ah…Watching the kids. Did I mention there are seven of them?"
"Eight!" KitKat calls in unision from behind.
Turbug rolls his eyes, snorting. “Too many,” he mutters.
Princess continues to ‘lead’ the way, taking cues from her father, bounding around with her long insect legs and inspecting her surroundings with a careful eye. A gleeful note reaches Vani at the compliment. The bug looks back at the others and seems to smile somehow in spite of her lack of features before turning round and bounding onward. Turbug continues close along with her, following Vani’s directions toward this wood of promised meals.
"So…you can understand her?" he asks softly.
Virus takes several steps back, scowling at the cybrid. Though maybe it would be fun to ‘accidentally’ get hit by him at some point. The pain would affect Vani and that would be all that mattered. “Watch where you’re swinging those things. Jeez."
"Eight? Hm… I’m not sure if I’d want eight little cybrids wandering around the castle. If I were going to watch them, I’d probably take them somewhere nice, like the beach… or the inside of Diet Cola M-…" The girl’s voice trails off and she focuses down on Turbug, twiddling her thumbs together and chuckling nervously. "On second thought, there’s that… boiling cola pit and that would be a bad idea."
With a tiny clicking sound, her eye fixes itself and she’s able to see once again. She looks over at Princess and shrugs. “Well, sort of. I’ve had a lot of practice usin’ the hivemind since that’s how I communicate t’ family members who aren’t close by.” Giving the bug a little grin, Vani continues. “I can tell when a signal is filled with positivity, and when one’s filled with distress. The latter as you can guess are worse to deal with.”
